1. Best engagement ever

Am I made of stone? No I’m not. Which is why i don’t mind telling you that I got a little misted up watching the video below.

Its a guy proposing to his girl (awww), but in a particularly twisted kind of way. It starts off with the guy and girl in a two person plane, taking in the sweeping views, taking pics of one another and generally having a great time. Things take a wild turn though, as the plane begins to crash. Well, “crash”.

You see, the guy tricked his girlfriend into thinking the plane was going down and the flight controls weren’t responding so she could read him the instructions on what to do. Those instructions were, of course, altered to reveal his proposal. It’s cute but so very twisted.

Enjoy.

2. Comet 2012 S1 is one sexy beast

Comet 2012 S1 (ISON)

I was always a bit bummed out that I didn’t bother checking out Halley’s Comet when it last visited in 1996, especially as the next time I see it I might be eating my food through a straw. However, the sexy named Comet 2012 S1 (ISON) is a completely different story, cause that girl is gonna light up the whole sky!

Yes thats right, according to scientists, a new comet discovered speeding past Saturn may turn out to be one of the brightest in history, possibly even outshining the moon (in brightness, not size) in late 2013/early 2014.

Current orbital predictions indicate the comet will look brightest to us in the weeks just after its closest approach to the sun, on November 28, 2013–if 2012 S1 survives the experience.

As the comet comes within about 1.2 million miles (2 million kilometers) of the sun, the star’s intense heat and gravity could cause the ice and rubble to break apart, scotching the sky show.

“While some predictions suggest it may become as bright as the full moon, and even visible during the day, one should be cautious when predicting how exciting a comet may get,” Samra said.

“Some comets have been notorious for creating a buzz but failing to put on a dazzling display,” he said. “Only time will tell.”

As long as some nutcase cult doesn’t hijack the event for their own madness, it promises to be quite the spectacle. To read more, check out the Nat Geo article here or click on the image above.

3. How hot does stuff get

This video kind of melted my mind a little, because its matter, is completely out of this world. Everybody knows about absolute zero, but what about the other end of the spectrum, as in, how hot can things get? And is there a limit?

Vsauce does a great job explaining just how hot things can get in this fascinating video. Today’s awesome.

4. RC helicopter vs. Trango Tower

There’s something incredibly motivating and utterly insane to me about climbing giant mountains. For one, you’re doing something that few have done, seeing sights that few ever will and conquering something that you’ll never forget. On the flip side, you’re dangling off the side of a mountain that is actively trying to kill you. So yeah, insane.

Thankfully, for the rest of us, the Mammut Pro Team let loose their RC helicopter to scale the majestic mountains of Trango Tower in Pakistan and capture these incredible views. Check out the video below. Makes me wish I’d brought one of those RC copters in Thailand now…

5. Incredible escape from Truck Crash

Thank goodness for dash mounted cameras, airbags and Russian balls of steel. How this truckie didn’t end up a raspberry stain of his former self is completely beyond me.

Today’s insane. Enjoy.
