1. Magic ad

blowing jumbos

As a holiday, then a prolific stream of work dramas have kept me away from posting for four weeks (wholly crap has been that long, (checks), yes it has been), it makes sense that I open with an advertising spot that focuses on holidays. Oh the irony.

Anyway, in this hypnotic little number for Widerøe airlines, the sense of wonder created in the ad almost makes you believe in magic again. Beautiful scenery, amazing acting and stunning cinematography all combine to create a truly great ad.

Enjoy.

2. Those poor girls

So the next video is allegedly a video of a group of Korean engineering students seeing girls (well, sexy Waveya girls) dance for the very first time.

I know several engineering guys and this is EXACTLY how they would have behaved too, because engineering guys have no idea how to behave around girls. Could they build you a girl? Probably. Can they date one? God no.

Watch for the two boys at the 0:55 mark run off together hand in hand to where one only imagines (probably to make out).

I’m not sure what happens after the concert finishes because the film cuts as the boys raid the stage, but all I can say is it can’t have had a good ending. No, not a very good end for the girls at all.

Check the video below for the Korean version of girls at a Justin Bieber concert.

3. The getaway idiots

The below is security camera footage from an Apple store in Temecula, California where last week a group of dumbasses drove their BMW SUV through the window and security gate and stole a bunch of iPads and computers.

What I want to know to start with, is WHY THEY USED THEIR OWN CAR for the heist. I’m no criminal mastermind, but that’d be pretty much the first thing I’d check off on my ‘getting away with it list’. Unfortunately for them, not only did the Apple store have cameras (who knew?) that caught their license plate number, but the plate itself got stuck in the security gate on the way out. So much LOL.

Check out the vid below. Its a good instructional on how not to break and enter, yunno, just in case you’re in the mood to do something dumb.

4. “There’s fire in my tornado”

Just when you thought that nature couldn’t cook up anything new, its gone and released a brand new monkey (so freaking cute) and whats that now? – a freaking fire tornado!

No surprises this has come out of Australia, the country that prides itself on housing every type of toxic plant and animal that hell has ever conceived. I guess its no surprises then that they’ve modified the tornado so its even more deadly.

Captured on film by Mr Tangey in the Australian outback, his first thought was sensibly to flee for his life. Not so sensibly, he decided to stay for 40 MINUTES and behold the spectacle. No doubt he was also thinking of the dollars big networks would throw at him for the footage.

Check out the video below. Today’s mental.

5. Curiosity descent in HD goodness

The thing about this generation (did I really just say ‘this generation’) is they want everything in High Definition. And while thats fine, the video thats been released thus far of the amazing Mars Curiosity descent on to Mars has been noticeably absent of any HD movie goodness. Pics yes, Movies not so much. Which is a little surprising considering how high-tech the mission is.

Enter Bard Channing; who announced on Reddit that he’d spent four weeks of his life stitching together every high-def pic from the Curiosity’s descent into one badass movie.

Using pan and scan techniques, Canning says he actually upgraded the footage to enterprise-quality 50,000kbps 1080p resolution, enhancing the colours and detail throughout the landing sequence, and even included practical sound effects — which, while not originally recorded by the spacecraft during its descent, adds to the viewing experience considerably.

You just have to see it to appreciate it. Oh and NASA, if you haven’t already, give this guy a job. Cos he just made Mars cool for the iPhone generation.

Enjoy.
